School Leaver Employment Supports
School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) is funded by the NDIS and is a two year pathway designed for school leavers to explore employment opportunities. We know that having a job builds confidence, as well as making friends and earning some money.
Our SLES service is tailored to your individual needs. It taps into your capabilities and gets you ready for the next phase of finding meaningful employment. Along with your SLES plan there will be a dedicated Employment Support Officer who will work with you to ensure you are reaching your goals, and engaging in all activities.
We offer the following activities;
- Work experience in a variety of open employment settings with on-site support
- Skill building such as work skills, social skills, travel training, and capacity building in small groups or one to one, to set you up for success
- World of Work program (WoW) – classroom style learning in a relaxed and comfortable adult environment
SLES outcomes
When you are ready for paid work, a referral can be made to our Disability Employment Service (DES). This can be at any point during the transition period – from three months to two years. The two services work together closely to ensure each person progresses to employment at their own pace with continuity of support.
Individual Employment Supports
Individual Employment Support is funded by the NDIS for people who are not eligible for DES but are keen to pursue paid work according to their skills and aspirations. This applies to a person with a disability, from school leavers to adults.
We will provide one to one training, plan to your capabilities, determine suitable meaningful employment options, and provide support in getting you ready to find a job that you want.
We can help you:
- Create a pathway to employment
- Build essential skills for work
- Create a resume and undertake interview coaching
- Participate in voluntary work or work experience
- Find and maintain paid work.
Where to access SLES
You can access School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) and Individual Employment Services (IES) at our Greensborough Community Campus. Here our team will get you ready for paid employment. There are several pathways to successfully gain employment and we will support you through your journey.
