Our Employment Service assists job seekers with a disability on their journey to finding a rewarding career. Our job seekers are as diverse as the general community and have all types of skills and abilities.

Disability Employment Services

Our Disability Employment Service (DES) supports people with a disability to find a job and career that they find rewarding.

Work Preparation
With our personalised approach, we will support you to develop skills and confidence by participating in training and work experience, so that you can learn about different job types and workplaces that are available in your local community. We can assist you to plan a career that you will find rewarding as well as assist you to navigate additional support services that you may need.

Finding a job
When you are ready for paid work, we will market you to supportive employers for a job that suits you and your skills. We check that employer’s meet the required safety standards and that they pay you correctly. Our goal is that you achieve positive long term sustainable employment.

Cost
All our services and supports are government funded and free to job seekers and employers.

School Leaver Employment Support

School leaver Employment Support (SLES) is funded by the NDIS and is a 2 year pathway designed for school leavers to explore employment opportunities. We know that having a job builds confidence, as well as making friends and earning some money. 

Our SLES service is tailored to your individual needs. It  taps into your capabilities and gets you ready for the next phase of finding meaningful employment. Along with your SLES plan there will be a dedicated Employment Support Officer who will work with you to ensure you are reaching your goals, and engaging in all activities.

We offer the following activities;

  • Work experience in a variety of open employment settings with on-site support
  • Skill building such as work skills, social skills, travel training, and capacity building in small groups or one to one, to set you up for success
  • World of Work program (WoW) – classroom style learning in a relaxed and comfortable adult environment

SLES outcomes

When you are ready for paid work, a referral can be made to our Disability Employment Service (DES). This can be at any point during the transition period – from three months to two years. The two services work together closely to ensure each person progresses to employment at their own pace with continuity of support.

Individual Employment Supports

Individual Employment Support is funded by the NDIS for people who are not eligible for DES but are keen to pursue paid work according to their skills and aspirations. This applies to a person with a disability, from school leavers to adults.

We will provide one to one training, plan to your capabilities, determine suitable meaningful employment options, and provide support in getting you ready to find a job that you want. 

We can help you:

  • Create a pathway to employment
  • Build essential skills for work
  • Create a resume and undertake interview coaching
  • Participate in voluntary work or work experience 
  • Find and maintain paid work.

Where to access SLES
You can access School Leaver Employment Services (SLES) and Individual Employment Services (IES) at Greensborough Community Campus and Frankston. Here our team will get you ready for paid employment. There are several pathways to successfully gain employment and we will support you through your journey.
