St John of God Accord secures grant funding for Supporting Carers Program

St John of God Accord is pleased to announce the successful grant funding for Supporting Carers Program, through the Victorian State Governments Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

"Carers, especially unpaid carers who care for a child or adult with a disability are generally unrecognised for their work, and for this reason we want to acknowledge our family and carers who care for their love ones with a disability," said Lisa Evans, Group Director Community Services, Chief Executive Officer, St John of God Accord.

"The funding made available to St John of God Accord through this initiative will enable us to deliver a program for local carers that is all about their wellbeing while delivering helpful information to assist them in their role as a carer."

The program will offer nine purposeful initiatives to increase the opportunities to form meaningful connections with others. St John of God Accord will theme initiatives into the following three areas:

1. Wellbeing

  • Yoga session
  • Mindfulness session
  • Coffee morning and walking activity

2. Building capability

  • Resilience workshops
  • Navigating services
  • Goal setting

3. All about you!

  • Brunch out
  • Dinner out

St John of God Accord will create a space where carers from both our community and local communities with similar experiences can come together, take a break and also form meaningful connections with others.

These will be held over the next 12 months with our first wellbeing initiative that will take place on Saturday, July 31 at our Greensborough Community Campus.
