Director of Specialist and Community Services

Silvana has been a member of the St John of God Accord Executive Committee since 2012.

Silvana has more than 35 years’ experience in the disability sector and has worked in all service delivery areas including institutions. Being part of the de-institutionalisation process which saw people with disabilities being recognised as valued members of the community was a deep foundational experience which has driven Silvana’s passion for ensuring individuals human rights are recognised and respected.

Silvana has worked in all areas of St John of God Accord including Accommodation, Individualised Services, and Community Campuses and was instrumental in establishing Specialist Services which incorporates Support Coordination and Allied Health.

Silvana was a significant contributor to the transition of St John of God Accord clients to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which has transformed client’s access to services and supports and placed them in the driver’s seat in determining their future. Whilst this is an aspirational model of support that progresses incrementally the policy framework establishes that people with disabilities must be supported to have control over their lives. A vision Silvana and the executive team strongly support.

Silvana’s most recent role included oversight of Quality, Risk and Compliance enabling a strong influence in ensuring services and supports delivered progress to being of the highest standard. Client and caregiver safety featuring strongly in the service delivery framework.

Silvana has a Degree in Psychology, Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture from ACU, Certificate of Intellectual Disability Nursing and a Cert IV in Training and Development and is currently undertaking a Cert IV qualification in Government Investigations.
